I jumped across for you

2008-05-08

Now on to the 67th video, which I've just uploaded to Youtube. This is a Coldplay song of their first album "Parachutes". I have been asked by many people to do a cover of this song, so it is high time I did it.

I used to sing this song quite a lot, and a number of my close friends really like it. I find Coldplay songs enjoyable to sing because of the scope for versatility in the vocals, and the opportunity for falsetto, and there's plenty of that in this song.

This is my attempt at Yellow:

The Jeffstunes version of Yellow by Coldplay

My Youtube numbers are still on the march, and here is the latest update.

Iv'e now got 589 Subscribers. I'm closing in on 600.

12,360 Channel views, and the total video views are now 178,166. Nearing the 200k mark.

A few friends suggested that I try out for the Youtube partnership program. Well, i did, and got politely turned down. It seems that I don't have enough original material, or enough regular traffic to my channel yet, to justify inclusion. I shall keep on trying :)

If I could make a wish

2008-05-04

In 1995 at 23 minutes past 1 in the morning, my daughter came into this world. In 2008 she finally became a teenager. It has been a fantastic thirteen years, filled with wonderful memories for me. Over that time I've gone through a lot of pictures and video, and I'm so glad I did. I can go back to it at any time and bring back all those good memories.

So many people have fallen under my daughters spell. Probably because she has eyes that you just can't say no to. Lol. Maybe I think that because I am her father. All parents think their own children are the most beautiful creatures on earth. I most certainly do :)

I'm very pleased that she has a wonderful nature. That's a rare thing. She is totally unselfish, and would give what she has to make others happy. The only thing she ever asks me for is my company, and a hug.

When I was a child, I used to write poetry, and it seems my daughter has followed suit. I just found out that one of her poems has been selected from an international competition, for publication in a book. One of only a few from her school. How proud I feel.

I decided to change 2 words from a great song called "The air that I breathe" by the Hollies. I altered the line "Making love to you", and changed it to "Making part of you". I recorded the song , and compiled a collection of video clips from my daughters first year.

Enjoy the song, and those eyes :)

Video 65. Tears in heaven.

2008-05-01

I decided I should start putting up a string of cover versions. It's my attempt to try and catch up a bit with my request list. There's little hope of ever getting to the end of it though. It's well over a hundred songs and climbing. The probelm is that I get about 4 or 5 request for every song I do.

I thought I'd do things a little bit differently now though. Instead of sitting in front of the camera singing, I will be recording the songs first, and then I will make the videos for those songs at another time. I'm hoping that this will give me better quality sound, and mixes. It also means that I can make the videos a little bit more interesting.

So the first one I chose to do was "Tears in heaven" by Eric Clapton. A very sad song that Eric wrote after the death of his son. I can't imagine the sadness that must have been in his heart, and probably still is.

Here is my rendition of this song.

The latest on the Youtube Jeffstunes figures.

Subs = 569

Channel Views = 11884

That's the first of many covers I plan to get through. I haven't decided which one on the list is going to be next. I'll be recording a number of them. Then I will select from that bunch :)

Hosting on different sites.

2008-04-27

Having posted videos to Youtube for nearly a year. Something I recognised was that audio and video quality were limited. If I uploaded a video with good quality stereo audio, youtube would convert down to mono and reduce it's quality. I managed to part resolve that issue with a free video converter that I found, Which allowed me to encode flash videos, and adjust the video and audio quality.

Recently, Youtube have started to cater for higher quality video and audio though.

This was the issue that got me looking around for other websites that hosted videos, and I found one called Livevideo. I decided that I would only put my original songs on thayt site. It's nowhere near as busy as Youtube, but that doesn't bother me that much. If people like my songs, and want to hear them in higher qaulity, then i can send them there.

All these videos are in my past posts, but you can check them out in higher quality audio at the following link:

Jeffstunes Livevideo channel

As per usual. Here's the latest info on my Youtube statistics.

The viewings of all my videos add up to 167,997.

My channel has now been looked at 11,668 times, and my subscriptions are now up to 563.

I shall be uploading another song to youtube soon. So that means I'll be posting soon too :)

Don't wish your life away.

2008-04-20

OK this one's really fresh. It was uploaded a little while ago!!

It's another one of my original songs. A new one this time.

So far, with my original material, the videos are comprised of image slideshows. So this one is a break from that pattern. This is the first time I've made a sort of movie out of one of my own songs. I wanted the content to reflect the meaning, and I think I've done that pretty well.

The title of the song is "Don't wish it away". It's about those that want the days and years to be over. Perhaps because they are sad or maybe waiting for something to happen. The video is centred on things disappearing, and also things going in reverse. There's something symbolic in that.

Take a look and see what you think:

Dont wish it away - Jeffstunes

These are the latest numbers on my youtube channel.

I've got 550 subscribers now.

The viewings of my channel are now 11,329, and the overall viewing figures all of my videos are now at 162,129.

I'm mulling over a cover version for my next video. There are three song I want to do. The songs are The excellent song "The air that I breathe" by the Hollies, "Running on faith" by the one and only Eric Clapton or "My father's eyes", also by Eric Clapton.

Jeffstunes - Sight Or Sound

2008-04-16

Now to the 63rd video. Finally I've got up to date with my videos.

This is an original song by me, called "Sight Or Sound".

I have been writing poems since before I was 10, and one of my favourite things to do, was to make puzzles out of my poems, and hide meanings and subtleties within the words.

So it's no surprise really, that those elements ended up in some of my songs. This song is a good example of that. In the description, I ask people to work out what the song means, and if they can discover all the links within the song and the video. I have only given the answers to those that have asked. I could tell everyone, but I prefer that some know and understand, and some don't.

This was a song that I wrote early last year, and it features a very good friend of mine, and extremely talented guitarist called "Steve Morgan". He has just got married, so I wish him the best for the future.

I hope you like the song. I love it, personally, but then i would.

Check it out:

Sight Or Sound - Jeffstunes and Steve Morgan

Here's an update on the Youtube numbers.

542 Subs.

11,175 channel viewings.

158,875 overall video views.

So now I've finally caught up with my videos. So I can't really say what the next post is about, because I don't know myself yet. I suppose I'll know that, once I've decided what to upload next. Hmmm. An original, or maybe a cover :)

Traffic signals - Half Original

2008-04-13

This next song was a sort of collaboration with a musician in Canada. Before I started posting videos on Youtube, I was writing songs with various people, and he was one of them. He writes a lot of music, and was eager to co-write songs with other people. So he would send me the music that he created, and I would attempt to put words and a vocal melody to it. It's a bit like Elton John and Bernie Taupin. The difference was that we made absolutely nothing from it :)

We did a number of songs together, and we were both happy with the results. In july, last year, I started posting up my videos to Youtube. Earlier this year I encouraged my musical friend from Canada to start posting his stuff on to Youtube. He has grown very quickly on there, and that's no surprise to me. He is very talented.

Now to the point of the post, and the song in question. He posted a composition, and asked if anybody would like to put words to it. It was a pretty good tune, as most of his are. I could hear the words in my head, so I proceeded to write the words and vocal melody. The resultant song was called "Traffic signals". I used some imagery in the video, which is symbolic of the meaning.

So here it is:

Traffic Signals by Jeffstunes and Songvibe

If you like the music in this song, then I suggest you go and take a look at his Youtube channel. His username is 'Songvibe'. He's got a decent collection of songs on there already.

I'll finish off with the stats.

I've now got 539 Subscribers.

There are 11,121 channel views.

156,734 total video views.

So to the next post. It's an Original song that features a very good friend of mine, and an excellent guitarist.

Take me home.

2008-04-10

Well, that's a week I was glad to get out of the way. My grandmother died a couple of weeks ago, and the funeral was on Tuesday. I loved her dearly, but I cannot deny that she had a long life. She was 93.

In the early part of last year, I was taking part in music collaborations. One of these was with a Swedish man called Ulf. He is extremely talented, and had retired from gigging. He is now focussing on the writing side, and is providing music for the film and television industry. His strengths are in the electronic side of music. I finished one song with him, which he wrote the music for, and I wrote the words and vocal melody. This isn't that song though. I mentioned his name in relation to this song, because he wanted to create a version of it. It's something we didn't get around to doing, so this is totally by me. It's an original song by me, called "Take me home".

It's about bad mistakes in relationships, that cause them to split. In the song, the person is appealing to their partner.

Have a listen, and see what you think.

Original by Jeffstunes - Take me home

Here's the latest on the stats.

I've got 534 Subscribers now. They are still climbing consistently.

The amount of views on my channel are now 11,121. All going in the right direction.

My overall video views are now 154,447.

The next video is a collaboration with a very talented canadian musician friend.

My Beatles challenge

2008-04-05

Now for something a little different. A good friend of mine asked me if I could do an alternative version of a Beatles song several months ago. The only provision was that I could not select any of their songs that had been hit singles. I had to choose a lesser known song from one of their albums. I listened to all of their albums, and picked 10 possible songs out of all of them. Then I narrowed it down to a single song.

Penning my own material is normally quite easy, but this was more challenging than I initially thought. When I write my own songs, I can hear whole thing in my head. It's just a matter of interpreting that into real life. In the case of this song though, it already had music to it, and I had to try and clear that original music out of my mind, so that I could compose a new sound to it. It wasn't a quick process, but I eventually came up with something in the end.

See what you think:

My version of All I've got to do by The Beatles

My next post is an Original song by me. A composition from 2007.

I'm going to finish off with the Youtube stats.

The subs are now up to 526.

The viewings of my channel are 11,071.

The overall video views have topped 150k, and are now 150,542.

Couldn't come to school

2008-04-03

Only one more to the 60th vid. This is number fifty nine. This is one of those songs that is quite memorable. Probably because it is quite unique in it's sound. The song is "Mmm mmm mmm mmm" by a band called "Crash test dummies". Any of you that know the song, will know that the vocals in it are pretty low. A perfect opportunity for me to test out the depths of my vocal ability.

This is what it ended up like:

Me singing Mmm mmm mmm mmm by The crash test dummies

You might notice that I make a reference to a guy called Tay Zonday at the beginning. Any of you that have spent some time on Youtube will probably have heard of him. He became famous for a song he put on Youtube called "Chocolate rain". It's quite a boring song, but the man is quite astounding. It is a surprise to see that sort of voice come out of his frame. He looks like a student, but when he opens his mouth. This deep rich sound comes out. Very deep :)

This is what is happening with my Youtube stuff at the moment.

I now have 522 Subscribers. A slight increase on last time.

The channel viewings are slightly up at 11,048.

Finally, the total video viewings are 148,768.

I'm almost on top of the videos now. A week or two and I'll be in line. Then I can post to my blogs as I release the videos. My next video was a result of a challenge from a friend last year. I've had such a backlog of requests, that I only got around to doing it recently. The clue is "The Beatles"

A song from Toploader

2008-04-01

Back to another cover. This song got to number 19 in the UK charts in 2001. I think it is a fantastic song, and it should have done better than that. In fact, I have been quite surprised that so few people know the song.

It was done by a group called "Toploader". Everybody seems to know "Dancing in the moonlight", which was their most successful song, as far as I know. The song I did of theirs is called "Only for a while", and It's my favourite out of all of their songs.

This is my take on it:

Me singing Only for a while by Toploader

As I've built my contact list on Youtube, the views when I first put a video up get stronger and stronger. That's because I can let those people know when I've put a new video on. So I'll upload a video, and then share it once with all my contacts. It goes both ways though. They can share their videos with me too. I've noticed a habit with some of them, and I've had to start crossing people off the list. There are some that send me a whole batch of messages for just one video. Just in case I didn't get the message first time!! Also there are some that send me that same videos every day. As a result I get sent about 80 videos a day now. There's no way I can get through all those. That's why I've decided to cross some of them off.

Back to the latest figures.

520 Subs.

11,036 Channel viewings.

147,599 overall views.

My next video is something to test the depths of my voice :)

When I grow - by Jeffstunes

2008-03-30

This is another Original song from me. As it is a love song, I uploaded it to youtube just before Valentines day. I noticed a lot of love orientated videos being put up in the lead up to Valentines day, so I thought I'd chip in.

The title of this song is "When I grow". It's a song of dedication.

This is it :)

Original song - When I grow

A little while back I changed the description on my channel. Inviting people to cover my songs, or use my music in their videos. I figured that this would be a good idea to help spread my music around. I'm bringing that subject up in this particular post, because someone did a cover version of "When I grow". If you go and pay a visit to my Youtube channel, you will see I have some playlists. One of them is called "Covers and uses of my songs". You will also find 4 other videos that someone has used the instrumental versions of my songs in.

Last, but not least. The Youtube bits and bobs.

My subscribers are now up to 516. My next mini landmark will be 600.

The channel viewings have passed the 11k mark and now stand at 11,009.

The overall video views are at 146,277. A little over a hundred thousand more to make it to a quarter of a million :) That will take a few months I think :) Still, you never know. I have never had any of my videos featured yet, and if that happens, I can expect the figures to rocket.

Back to a cover version next. A lesser known song by a fantastic band.

The Fray and Gray's Anatomy

2008-03-28

This is a more up to date cover. Last year, I was asked by several people, if I could do a number by "The fray". I finally managed to get around to doing one a short while back, because of the backlog of request that I have. The song I eventually selected is called "How to save a life". If you watch Gray's Anatomy at all, you may well be familiar with this song.

This was one of the videos that a Hater decided to see whether they could upset me. That was a bad mistake for them :)

This inspired me to put together another video about the experience on my other Youtube channel. It was a comical look at the situation. There are those on Youtube that block a hater on their first comment, but I chose not to. Instead I got into conversation with them, and the outcome was surprising. The hater ended up blocking me!!!

If you go to this video on Youtube, and take a look at all comments, you'll get a taste of the fun I had. They commented across 3 videos in total.

Moving on to the tune. This is me singing "How to save a life".

And so we come to the Youtube Statistics again.

The subscriber count is still rising, and is now 509.

My channel viewings are extremely close to 11k now. They are 10,986.

144,696 total viewings of all my videos.

Coming next is another Original song from me :)

My version of Everybody hurts

2008-03-27

Now to the 55th video. This has to be one of the best REM songs ever, and is probably my favourite of theirs to sing. I can't recall how many times I have performed this particular song, but I know it is many, many times. It goes by the name of "Everybody hurts". A song that is vocally challenging.

Here is my attempt at this wonderful song:

My rendition of Everybody Hurts by REM

Now for the Youtube stuff.

I have done it! I've passed the 500 subs target. This was helped a bit by someone else on Youtube featuring me in one of their vids. Down to the figures.

My subscribers are now 508.

The viewings of my channel are 10,981.

Total viewings = 143,916.

Next, is a more up to date song, and was also one of the videos that a hater reared their head.

Video 54. You are

2008-03-24

This song was recorded before all the other Original songs I've uploaded to youtube. It was recorded about 4 years ago. It was recorded in a studio in West Worthing.

Here's the story behind it.

I am not really one for entering competitions, but my local pub decided to put on a karaoke competition, and all my friends kept on at me to enter it. I was reluctant at first, but they kept on at me, and I eventually entered. There was a qualifying round, and a final. To cut a long story short, I won the competition.

The prize for winning, was a day in a recording studio. The guy who ran the studio came up to me and asked me what song I wanted to do, so that he could get the backing. That got me thinking. I asked him if it was ok if I did one of my own compositions. He was very happy about that, and even seemed excited.

In the end, I ended up being in the studio for a few weeks. I paid for all the extra time myself. I ended up recording nine of my own songs. Being ever self critical, I was not best pleased with my vocals in the mix. I never am though. They were a bit pitchy :)

Anyway. All the instrumentation is performed by the studio owner (his strength is the bass guitar). This is one of those nine songs, and it's called "You are".

A couple of people commented on why it seems to finish in a strange way. I wanted to make sure I left the end hanging, to signify that the story is only part way through.

This is "You are"

A Jeffstunes Original - You are

Now for a statistical update.

The subscribers are so close to the 500 mark now. They are currently 499.

The channel views are also approaching 11k, and currently stand at 10,913.

Finally the total video views are 140,131.

For my next trick. An R.E.M. anthem :)

Original song. So Blue

2008-03-21

Now for one of my own songs. This is a song called "So blue". I wrote this one a couple of years ago. I wanted to do a song where I would start with one style. Then change the style part way through the song. It all matched up quite nicely with the lyrics. The first part of the song deals with someone putting a happy face on. The second part deals with what is really going on in their mind.

Here is "So Blue".

Original song - So Blue - by Jeffstunes

There has been some positive action with my Youtube stats. When I turned my computer on this morning, I discovered lots of emails, and a bigger than normal jump in subscribers. This was due to another channel on Youtube. It's a channel that picks 5 musicians a week, then features them on a video. This week I was featured in the video :)

So, down to the nitty gritty and the stats.

Subscribers = 488

Channel views = 10,890

Total video views = 138,755

The next post is about another Original song. This time from a little further back :)

Me doing This years love

2008-03-20

This is another one I've done a number of times, and it's quite popular among my friends. It's probably one of the most well known David Gray songs. It's called "This year's love".

This is my version:

Me singing This years love by David Gray

Now for the regular Youtube stats update, and then something extra :)

My subscribers are closing in on the magic 500 and are now at 475.

Channel views are rolling forward and are now 10,866.

The overall video viewings now stand at 137,810. A few weeks might see that figure break the magic 150k point :)

Now for that something special.

Since I've been a member of youtube, I've shared my videos with my friends as I've uploaded them. On rare occasions I've shared someone elses video, If I thought there was something really special about it. So I'm going to share this one with you, and give you a link to go and take a look.

It's a 12 year old girl singing. Her mother runs the channel for her. Go and have a listen, and remember that this girl is only 12. Wow! what a voice, and what potential. I think we are looking at a future star here. She doesn't have many subscribers at the moment, but I think she's going to end up with thousands of them.

Here's the link to her channel:

Amazing singer

Coming next. Another Original song from me :).

A George Michael cover cover

2008-03-13

I've jumped forward a few videos, because the weren't really relevant. As this is posted in March and the first one was a Christmas song, I don't think it's the right time of year. The other one was me thanking all the people that commented on my videos.

So we arrive at the fifty first video. The first time I heard this, was by George Michael. A while later I found out that Bonnie Raitt was the first to have a hit with it. I purchased both versions in time. I found Bonnie Raitt's original to be relatively low in key for a female vocal. George Michael's version was reasonably high for a male. I wondered what it would sound like if I did it with a low male vocal. I thought it might sound a bit more intimate.

This is the outcome:

Me singing I can't make you love me

Now for my Youtube digest.

My Subscribers have increased by 4 to 456.

10,774 Channel Viewings. That's a very small increase. I'm happy with any increase at all :)

Last, but not least. The total viewing figures are at 130,781. A bit slower than other days, but still pretty good.

Looking forward to the next one, I've done another David Gray song. Probably one of his most well known.

When I want sincerity

2008-03-12

Now a song from Mr Billy Joel.

I have had a go at a number of Billy Joel songs, and this is one of my favourites by him. It just feels good to sing. The song is "Honesty".

I also talk a little about one of my rarest vinyl discs :)

Great words and great music. Take a look at my version.

Me singing Honesty by Billy Joel

The overall video views on Jeffstunes channel on Youtube were pretty consistent. So I took a closer look at hows those views were being divided. Some of my videos were getting more views than others, but what I found surprising is that all videos were getting regular viewings. So the rise in numbers is across the board.

These are the current figures.

There are 452 Channel Subscriptions.

Channel viewings are up to 10,768.

Total video views are now 130,056.

The next song is one that I originally heard the cover version first. Then went out and bought the original. Now I've done my own cover of it :)

Me singing Coldplay

2008-03-11

Out of all the Coldplay songs, this one has to rate among the very best. It was taken from the album "A rush of blood to the head", and the song is "Warning sign". I didn't have any backing music for this song, so I had to once again pick up my guitar and try to get by with some basic chords :)

I also put in some random information about europe and bananas. Those two go together really well.

Go take a look at my version of Warning sign (Apologies for the amatuer guitar)

Me singing Warning Sign by Coldplay

Coming up next is another song that I adore singing. It's from the wonderful Billy Joel.

Here's the latest on the Youtube progress.

Subs are up again to 451.

Channel viewings are climbing slowly, and are now 10,762.

Overall video viewings are still racing forward and now stand at 129,349.

Things are going well.

Me singing Eternity

2008-03-10

Another song from my request list. This one is a Robbie Williams song called Eternity.

I said before about how my list of requests was growing too fast. So I decided to stop taking any more. This hasn't stopped them coming in though. I'm still getting over 5 requests for every video I put up. I have to resign myself to the fact that I will never get through it. A friend of mine once said to me that more demand than you can cope with is a bit of a problem, but it's a good problem to have. So I'm happy with that :)

there have been almost 2,500 viewings for this video alone, up until now.

Anyway, here's my rendition of Eternity.

Me singing Eternity by Robbie williams

I'm still catching up to my most recent videos, and I'm getting ever closer. It looks like I will probably achieve that within a month :)

My statistics on Youtube are still climbinhg healthily. This is the current state of play.

Subscribers = 448

10,752 Channel viewings

Video Views = 128,599

It wasn't long ago when I started putting this information in my posts, so in time, it's going to be quite interesting to look back over the posts and see the changing statistics. I'll find it interesting anyway :)

Next up it's a bit of Coldplay and a guitar :)

This is America

2008-03-07

A number of months back, one of my friends asked me to do "America" by "Neil Diamond". It took a while to work through the other tunes in my request list, but I finally made it :)

Better late than never. He was over the moon.

No beating about the bush.

This is my version:

Me singing America by Neil Diamond

Not so long ago, I made instrumental versions of my own songs available online. For those that were interested in covering me, or using my music in their videos. There have already been 4 uses, and more telling me that they will be using them. One couple did an acoustic version of one of my slow songs, and another has used my music in three of her videos. Not bad at all :)

Youtube Stats.

I lost one subscriber, but then I gained another. So the total still stands at 438.

The channel views are up to 10,702.

The video views are now at 125,856.

What do we have next.

Oh yes. This was one that was asked for a while ago as well. It's a Robbie Williams song :)

Me doing Mad world.

2008-03-06

I finally decided to get my acoustic guitar out to play a number. I'm not a competent player yet, but I'm practicing. Rhythm play is about the level I'm at, at the moment. So I selected a number that used some simple open chords. This one was originally by "Tears for fears". I purchased this on vinyl in 1982, and I think it was the band's first release. A lot of people will also know this song, ans being sung by a man called Gary Jules. He did a cover of it. The tune is "Mad world".

This video has been watched 2,801 times, up until this post.

Here's the video of me performing it :)

Me singing Mad World by Tears for Fears

Well, there's been a boost in my youtube statistics, since I made that comedy video for my other channel. So here we go with the latest.

The current number of Subscribers is 438. Not too long to the 500 mark now. By my reckoning, I should pass that figure in April.

The Channel views are up at 10,698.

Finally, the overall video views are 124,781.

The next song is another one of those Neil Diamond requests.

A Hater came by

2008-03-03

Before I move on to the next song, I'm going to tell you about a little episode I had on Youtube, and a video I put together about those events.

I must be getting popular now, because a "Hater" found me. Their treatment of me was no different to what I have seen on other Youtuber's channels. Plenty of insults. The hater was anonymous. Nothing unusual there. It's how I handled it that was different. A lot of video makers on Youtube, block Haters after their first comment, but I decided to get into a conversation with them. What happened in the end was pretty ironic. I will not spoil the surprise though.

After it was all over, I decided to make a video about it all, in a silent movie style. I used the music of Elton John for this one. I uploaded this to another channel on Youtube called "Jeffhasspoken". I created a second channel because I wanted to do other videos, but I didn't want to mix them up with my music vids.

The comments went ballisitc on this video and it ended up being the 2nd most discussed comedy video in the UK for the day, and the comments are still coming in. A good number of people found it very, very funny. I didn't realise they would, but I'm very happy they do :)

Check the video out, and see what happened.

Funeral for a Hater / Hate lies bleeding

Next, it's back to the music vids, and catch up time.

Jeffstunes - All of the time

2008-02-27

The third of my three Original songs in a row. This is a song called "All of the time". It's another slow number.

So far, all of my Original songs on Youtube have done really well. There have been lots of very good comments.

Check out my Original song "All of the time".

Original song by Jeffstunes - All of the time

A number of Youtubers mentioned to me that they would like to cover one of my songs, and that made me think. I should encourage people to attempt that. After all. It would result in more exposure for my tunes.

The problem is that not everybody is a musician, and cannot make the music, though they may be able to sing.

So I made instrumental versions of my songs on Youtube, and put them up for download on a web page. Then gave the link to that page in my video descriptions.

Here is that link:

Jeffstunes Download page

So now people can now cover my songs if they wish, without having to compose the music. Unless they want to of course.

All I ask is that you link back to my Youtube channel, and perhaps give me a mention.

Now to the Youtube Stats..

Just before that. I have an observation about the figures. There seems to be an inconsistency in the way the numbers move. Sometimes they go fast, and at other times they go slow. The total video views are pretty consistent, but the Subscribers seem to have good and bad days. Oh well. Just an observation.

I now have 413 Subscribers.

My Channel views are 10,566.

The overall video viewings are 118,438.

Now for some more cover versions. I pluck up the courage to get my guitar out!!

Another song from me - Escape

2008-02-23

This is the 2nd Original of mine, in a row, out of three. It's title is "Escape". This song has been liked by a lot of people. This song was written a few years ago, along with a load of others.

It's basically about people who are tired of playing the chasing game.

Here is the song:

Original song - Escape - by Jeffstunes

Well, the Youtube stats have jumped, and I've passed another milestone.

My subscribers have leapt over the 400 barrier and now stand at 402.

I now have 10,301 channel viewings.

My total video viewings are now at 115,368. At this rate, I might make 200k in less that 3 months.

Next. The last of my three Originals in a row.

One of mine - Convey

2008-02-20

Now for the first of three Original songs on the trot. This one is called "Convey". I wrote the song with the sole intention of making the first showing of it on Youtube.

I have been more than happy with the great comments on my Original songs. There's been a lot of positivity. The meaning behind this composition is about how someone says what they say. Not just the words, but the intention behind them.

Check out Convey:

Original song by Jeffstunes - Convey

Youtube Stats.

Only one more subscriber this time, but at least it's an increase. There are now 393.

The channel views are now 10,111.

111,527 Overall video views. Still going at a good pace.

Next, is the second of my 3 Original songs in a row.

Hello again hello.

2008-02-19

On to the second of two Neil Diamond requests. This was one of his most well known songs, and my version on Youtube has done very well. It has had roughly twice as many viewings as the previous song.

The song is "Hello again". If you are familiar with Neil Diamond, and you don'tr know this song then.....Where have you been? :)

Anyway. Here it is:

Me singing Hello Again by Neil Diamond

OK. No more Neil Diamond for a while now. The next 3 songs are all written and performed by me.

Now for a statistical update. Here are the latest figures for my Youtube channel.

My subscribers haven't moved for the first time in ages, and still stand at 392.

However, my channel viewings have passed the 10k target and are now at 10,064.

Video views now stand at 110,754.

Until next time :)

To find ourselves again

2008-02-18

2 Neil diamond songs on the bounce now. This happens to be one of my favourites to sing of his. It's a wonderful song called "September morn".

The two Neil Diamond songs were requests from a while back. My request list is so big now, that I have had to stop accepting them. It will take over a year for me to go through all the songs, currently on my list!

I hope you enjoy my version of this song:

Me singing September Morn by Neil Diamond

There is another Neil song next.

So how are things on my Youtube channel?

Well, I've got more subscribers again. The total is 392. 8 more to go to 400.

9,996 Channel views. So, so close. It's a matter of hours now.

Total video views = 109,854. Still going strong.

The second of the two Neil Diamond songs is coming up next :)

I see a bad moon rising

2008-02-17

Now for something from "Creedence clearwater revival", and the awesome "Bad moon rising". It's a great song in my opinion, and doing this one gave me the opportunity to play around with some of the effects on my sound card. It allows me to use two effects together so I used Standard Reverb and Slap Back Echo. Slap Back Echo is similar to the effect used in the original.

This is my version of "Bad moon rising"

Me singing Bad moon rising by Creedence clearwater revival

Moving on to my Youtube figures. I am fast approaching two milestones.

The subscribers are getting very close to the 400 target and are currently on 389.

With 9,917 Channel views. The 10,000 target is not so far away now. A matter of days. It's looking like the Channel views will reach their target first.

The total viewing figures for all my videos is 108,960.

Next. A couple of Neil Numbers, which were on my extremely long request list.

Blessed Eternal

2008-02-16

This is a song I recorded a few years ago. It's different to the other cover versions, in that i didn't sit in front of the camera and sing it. I had some really positive feedback on the use of male vocals in this song, so this is why I decided to put it up on Youtube.

This was the first one I managed to get working in stereo, and with better sound quality. I would normally upload an MPG video. This time I converted the MPG file to Flash video, whilst tweaking some settings. This resulted in a much shorter upload time, because the video file was a lot smaller in size.

The song is "I am blessed", and is originally by a group called "Eternal".

Here is my rendition.

Me singing I am blessed by Eternal

This song also has one of the longest notes holds I've ever done :)

Now for some Youtube numbers.

Subscribers up to 384.

The Channel views are moving well and are currently at 9,827.

Video views 108,198.

Coming up next. A cover of an awesome 60's song and the use of some effects :)

Video 34. Anybody there

2008-02-15

Here's another one of my Original songs.

This is one that was written a few years ago again. I wrote quite a few songs in the space of two months, and this one was among them. This one is quite liked by a few of my friends.

The title of the song is "Anybody there"

It's about someone alone, who tries to reach out and contact friends, but every time they try, they seem to fail. This results in them feeling even more lonely.

Check it out:

Original song by Jeffstunes - Anybody there

Now for my regular Youtube statistics update.

I've gained a couple more subscribers. The total is now 382.

There's also been a good increas in my channel views. They are now at 9,730.

The video views are also climbing nicely and a now at 107,229.

My next post is a cover of a song by a female band that I recorded some time ago. It was pretty well liked, so I decided to put it up on Youtube.

A Paul McCartney number

2008-02-14

Now a special song. One of my friends on Youtube asked me to have a go at this song. I couldn't get the backing for it anywhere, so I re-created the music, but differently.

The song is "Here today" by Paul McCartney. This was a tune that Paul McCartney wrote in honour of John Lennon. The original of this was a Guitar based song. I had a thought. What if I used a piano instead of the guitar, and made the piano sound a bit like the one used in John Lennon's imagine.

I put together some images for the vid. It wasn't too long ago when George Harrison died, so it seemed like a good idea to include pictures of him too.

Here is the final result.

My version of Here Today by Paul McCartney

This is another of my videos on Youtube that has done quite well. Being one of my top rated videos with 60 ratings so far :)

Now for my Youtube statistics.

I've had an increase of subscribers to 380 now.

There has been a rise of over 100 channel views and it now stands at 9,633.

The total viewings for all my videos is 105,634. It's a nearly a thousand a day now!

My next video is another Original song from me :)

When you try your best

2008-02-12

This next number is probably one of songs on Youtube that has received the most attention. I have to say that I think it is one of the best Coldplay songs ever. It is "Fix you".

Here is my rendition of a song I can't praise highly enough:

Me singing Fix You by Coldplay

Up until this post, this video has had the following stats:

55 Ratings.

2,281 Viewings.

Favourited 25 times.

I've gained 4 more subscribers, which takes the current tally to 376. The 400 target is not too far away now.

There have been 103,970 viewings of all of my videos to date.

There have also been 9,500 channel views, which is also steadily on the increase. Only 500 more to get to the magic ten thousand :)

Here's a sniff at the next post. I was asked to do it by a great guy on Youtube. It is a cover of a poignant song, which I re-recorded the music for, to give it more impact.

More on that later :)

Hanging on the wire

2008-02-10

Now on to video 31. A big hit for Paul Weller, back in 1995. The name of the tune is "You do something to me"

Before I continue with Paul Weller. I'm just going to mention and give a link to my channel on Youtube.

I've just uploaded the 56th video which is a great tune called "How to save a life" by a band called "The fray". Which avid viewers of Gray's Anatomy will know. I've got it as the currently featured video on my Youtube channel, and you can visit it by following the link below.

Jeffstunes's Channel on Youtube

Now I've got that out of the way. It's back to the song that is the focus of this post.

Here is my version of that great Paul Weller song.

Me singing You do something to me by Paul Weller

This weekend has been quite good for new subscribers.

The total currently stands at 372.

At last my video viewings passed the 100,000 mark on friday, and now stands at 102,181.

My next post will be about a song that did pretty well on Youtube, and is a Coldplay number.

The fourth Original song

2008-02-07

Here we are at the thirtieth video already.

This is one of my own compositions from over a year ago. It's called "Why don't you ask".

It's at a faster pace than my previous originals. I had a mad moment where I wanted to create a hook in a heavy song with a vibraphone., and the fruit of that idea is embedded within this tune.

The song is about a couple. One of them really wants to know the other person inside, and asks to find out. Their partner doesn't reciprocate though. They just assume they know. They are incorrect.

Tell me what you think:

Original song by Jeffstunes - Why don't you ask

Now some statistics.

My subscribers have increased by a few again.

There are currently 354 Subscribers.

I've just passed 99,000 overall views for my videos. At this rate. I am expecting them to pass the 100k during friday.

There have been 9402 chanel views. The next magic figure for this is of course 10,000. I estimate it might take a few weeks.

Back to cover versions for the next video. It's a tune by Paul Weller :)

Video 29. Summer

2008-02-06

Excellent. Nearly at the 30th video. This is the twenty ninth of my videos.

This song climbed to number 9 in 1973 in the UK charts. It's a slow romantic number called "Summer (The first time)",Recorded by Bobby Goldsboro. I always associated this song with a film called "Summer of 42". A film I enjoyed. I was a story about a young lad during the second world war, finding out about his sexuality, and falling for a war widow.

Have a look at my rendition of the song below.

Me singing Summer (The first time) by Bobby Goldsboro.

There's been a bit more activity with my subscribers again. They have increased. So here is the latest tally up until the time of this post.

Subscribers = 352

The 100,000 video views is getting ever closer, and I work out that it should pass that figure in the next couple of days.Hmmm. Will I celebrate or not. Lol :)

The next video after this is going to be one of my original songs, which contains a bit of experimentation.

That's next.

The sundance kid

2008-02-05

There is a good number of songs that make me happy but the next song I did does that particularly well. The song is the unmistakeable "Raindrops keep falling on my head". The one I grew up with was the version by BJ Thomas.

Some of you will know that this song was used in the film "Butch cassidy and the sundance kid". It's a really uplifting song to do.

A lot of people on Youtube found it quite uplifting. This led to some of them recording their own version of the song and posting it as a response to mine :)

Here is my performance:

Me singing Raindrops keep faling on my head

Since the last post, I have taken on board another 2 subscribers.

I now have a total of 349.

My video views are also nearing the landmark figure of 100,000. That should happen over the next few days. My channel views are also racing toward the 10,000 target. Hopefully, it shouldn't be to long.

The next song is a 70's classic from Bobby Goldsboro.

Bruce and Philadelphia

2008-02-03

Now to my twenty seventh vid which is a song from the great movie, Philadelphia. The name of the song is "Streets of philadelphia" and was sung by that very well known artist, Bruce Springsteen.

It's another emotion filled song. I got to hear the song first before I saw the film. I found the movie very sad.

Here is my performance of that classic song.

Me singing Streets of Philadelphia by Bruce Springsteen

I thought it would be a good idea for me to start including my subsciber count in my posts now.

So here is the first declaration.

My Youtube subscriber tally is currently: 347

I'm hoping that figure will increase from post to post. There's only one way to find out :)

A Connells number

2008-02-02

In 1995 a band called the Connells had a hit song in the UK with an excellent song. The song reached number fourteen in the UK charts. It's the subject of this next video.

The song, of course is 74/75.

I have no idea why the band didn't have more success with other songs because I thought that this was a fantastic tune.

Hopefully you will know this song. Here's me giving it a crack.

My cover of 74/75 by the Connells

Next. Another song, that is actually not a Neil Diamond song :)

Blow away - An original song

2008-01-26

My next video was the 3rd original song of mine to be uploaded to Youtube. It's a slow number that has no percussion. I tried to keep the lyrics ambiguous so that they could have a wider meaning.

The song is called "Blow away", and it's generally about someone reflecting on previous relationships, and how they consider themselves responsible for the relationships ending.

See what you think:

Original song - Blow away - by Jeff Edwards

My rendition of a Connells classic is next :)

It just cuts like a knife

2008-01-25

This is a track that was featured in a classic movie titled "Pulp fiction". The group that did a cover of the song were known as Urge Overkill. It was the first time I had heard the song, and it was surprising to discover that it was actually written by Neil Diamond.

A fantastic film and a great song. Very enjoyable to sing.

See what you think of my take.

Me singing Girl youll be a woman soon

So on to video 25. Which is another Original song.

And so it was

2008-01-23

So we arrive at another Neil Diamond song. I was ploughing through my requests. There were a large number to do, and there were still Neil songs among them.

The next one up, off the list was "Play Me". This is one of my favourite Neil songs. I can't really put my finger on it, but I really like singing it.

You can take a look below:

Me singing Play Me by Neil Diamond

In an effort to get some of the Neil songs out of the way, the next video is a Neil song too. Then it's time for another Original composition.

But until then :)

Original Twist of fate.

2008-01-17

I'm skipping the 21st video because it's another one of my how to sing vids that I pointed out in a previous post.

So on to my 22nd video.

It's a song I wrote a few years back. This one has been quite popular with quite a few people. It shouldn't be confused with other songs sharing the same title. It's a song called Twist of fate, and was written, performed and produced by me.

Have a look at it here:

Original song by Jeff Edwards - Twist of fate

My path through songwriting has been quite experimental. I tried to provide an unorthodox arrangement to the song, so that it would reflect on the meaning. The verses are in the first half of the song, and the chorus at the end. It's quite a moving song. I hope you enjoy it.

You'll also notice that in my original song videos, I tended to use picture slideshows.

Guess what's coming after this? Would Neil Diamond be of any surprise :)

Like a passing parade

2008-01-15

I had an ever growing list of requests, so it was time for Neil Diamond again. I had requests for a few Neil Diamond songs, and the one I selected to do was Beautiful noise. This song did quite well. It has had over 750 viewings up to the point of this post.

So here it is. My allegedly Beautiful Noise.

Me singing Beautiful Noise by Neil Diamond

I hope you enjoyed that if you listened to it. I have done more Neil Diamnd songs. They were all requests, and they will be coming in later posts.

Me doing the Verve again

2008-01-12

I did the Verve's Sonnet for my next video. Again this song was taken from the album "Urban hymns".

As you might see, I was still having issues with the video and audio sync, though I can assure you that it is my voice :)

A lot of Verve songs are easy to sing because the note ranges are not too extensive.

See what you think.

Me singing Sonnet by The Verve

I was getting quite a few requests to do more Neil Diamond songs, so the next one was one off those. So, until my next post :)

A change with Changes

2008-01-09

Apart from my how to sing vids. I had only done cover versions up to this point, so it was about time I started putting some of my own songs up. The first of these put up is a song called Changes. Everything about this song was written by me. Words, music etc.

It's about someone waking up in the morning and suddenly realising that they are in love, but struggling with their reluctance to say anything to the focus of their attention. It's quite a gentle flowing piece. As with all of my original material. I put the lyrics to the song in the video description, which can be found on Youtube.

I wrote this one about three years ago. I thought I might as well make use of songs I had already written by putting them up for opinion.

Check it out below.

A Jeffstunes Original song - Changes

And now for a few more cover versions.

Singing well

2008-01-06

After only a few videos. One of my subscribers asked me for some tips on singing. I sent her an email with some of the stuff that I'd picked up over the years. She said it would be a good idea if I put it all together in a video, because she thought the information might be useful for other people.

So this led to me making three videos about singing. I tried to balance all the advice out into tips and exercises. All these would hopefully help to develop the vocals of those interested

Up until the time I posted this. These videos have been by far my most popular. All together they've had over twenty three thousand viewings up to the date I posted this. They are currently getting several hundred views a day.

So if you have an interest in singing and want to hear tips from an amateur, then take a look.

You can find links the these videos below.

Video 16. Somebody

2008-01-04

Video number 16 on Youtube was a song I did by an excellent band. They are Depeche mode. When they started out, their style was electronic and bouncy, but as time progressed the mood of their music turned quite dark and experimental.

Though there was one song amongst the deep dark corners that jumped out as different, and it's probably my favourite song of theirs.

The song is called Somebody, and here is my rendition of it:

Me singing Somebody by Depeche mode

What a great song.

A third one from Neil

2008-01-02

I was getting good comments on my Neil Diamond songs. People telling me how much they thought I sounded like him. So it was time for another. The third of his songs I had done so far on Yuotube. Only this time the sound quality was a lot better. A lot of Neil Diamond fans put this song in their top 5. It's got some pretty low notes, but my voice can go very low, so it wasn't an issue for me.

The Neil Diamond song in question is I am I said.

Have a listen to my version of this song:

Me singing I am I said by Neil Diamond

loads more Neil songs to come. Amongst all the others :)
